Our bird families

  • May. 5th, 2008 at 11:09 AM

Here's a pic of the baby robins sound and secure after a yummy breakfast fed by Mom and Dad Robin.

Sorry it's a bit overexposed.  I just stood on the chair and held the camera over it, hoping for a good angle.

Here's the mama dove on our front porch.  I think the eggs must have hatched cause she's been on her nest all morning.  The robins are out doing whatever it is birds do at mid-morning.  *G*

You know, this could be the dad.  I can't remember which one actually stays at the nest with doves.

If they're mourning doves (they look like it), mom and dad spend an equal time on the nest.

We had friends a while back who had some doves nest on their kitchen windowsill, so they got an eyeball-to-eyeball view. Doves are pretty cool!

I knew there was something there with those mourning doves! Thanks. That would've been so neat to have one outside the kitchen window!

I have a nest of doves in a pine tree in my front yard - right at eye level! Also have some sparrows in the eves. I love hearing their chirpings & cooings - especially the cooing! Listening to doves reminds me of being a really little girl and hearing them. They are so comforting!

Birds in the morning are my favorite sounds!

It's such a beautiful sound, isn't it?

Awesome. That dove took the easy way out and claimed a ready-made nest. I'm telling on him.

LOL! I know, silly dove. I've seen sparrows nest in some really, really bad spots. I think those musta fell out of the nest as babies.

Oh they are so sweet. We feed the doves and they nest next door. :-(

That's just not very nice of them!

Aww. So cute! The only birds we have that seem to like our house are those blasted crows that keep prying back the siding at the peak of the roof so they can burrow their way into our attic. Every year Chriss nails it down, every year they pull it back up. Stupid crows. They also like to eat our garbage when we put it on the curb.

Cute birds. Mourning doves sound so cool! We have mourning doves, quail, robins, sparrows and sometimes a woodpecker in or near our yard. When Leisa lived at home with her cat, Sammi, we didn't have so much trouble...now they eat our cherries unless we net the tree. However, babies of any kind are adorable.

Boy, that sure will save you a bunch of work when it comes time to eat them.

You are so mean. I can't eat my pets! Besides the little robins left the nest today.

Who eats a robin? I was talking about the little dovelets. Mmmm. . . tasty!

I knew what you were talking about. ;-) I still couldn't eat them though.
